Soudrette and Ryan Broughton. Jason Soudrette was unable to get

place to out distance the field at Indiana's Twin Cities Raceway Park.
Youngster Ryan Broughton won what many claim was the best race of the
year at 35 Raceway Park in his FOZ Race Cars mini sprint.

winning tradition
Jason Soudrette is another driver that has found
victory lane in his FOZ Race Car this season. Soudrette ended
the season in '06 with a pair of wins at Lawrenceburg in his FOZ.
Early in the 2007 season he recently recorded a victory at the Osgood
Indiana fairgrounds when the American Mini Sprint Association took to
the fairground's track. Scott Fasse was 6th in that evening in
his FOZ. The win earned Soudrette the early points lead.

were gearbox problems relegated Soudrette to 7th place. Fasse
was 4th. |

News Flash 4/24/07
A few of
the FOZ cars had a chance to get on the track this weekend. Ryan
Broughton driving the new Tony Broughton prepared FOZ car for the
first time in a practice day at 35 Raceway Park came away with good
feelings. Tony said "We learned a lot and Ryan got comfortable with
the car quickly". Tony said he was impressed with how well the car
responded to chassis changes he made to the car and they are looking
forward to the upcoming races.
Three
competitors in FOZ race cars were part of the 26 car AMSA 1200 field
at the fast Twin Cities Raceway in Indiana. Jason Soudrette, Howard
McCormick and Scott Fasse put all three cars in the top 10 (2nd,
6th and 7th respectively) of the competitive
feature event. Soudrette looked like he would win the feature but an
untimely yellow stopped that charge. Congratulations to all three
but especially to Jason for his heat win and hard charge in the
feature to second. McCormick and Fasse came from deep in the field
for their top 10 finishes.
We will
see a couple of more new FOZ cars competing shortly in New York,
Colorado and the AMSA; we’ll do our best to keep you posted.

Team TNR Motorsports Will Be in a FOZ
for 2007 |
|
Father
and son team Ryan and Tony Broughton recently announced that they will
be making the switch to a FOZ Race Cars mini sprint for the 2007
season. Car owner/Crew Chief, Tony Broughton explained, “We really
like everything we’ve seen in this car. It is a first class piece
from top to bottom. John Godfrey’s reputation for building winning
race cars says it all.”
The
younger Broughton has established himself as a tough competitor in the
popular 600cc upright mini sprint classes that run in the mid-west.
After getting his start in a go-karts and then quarter midgets,
Broughton stepped into an upright mini sprint during the 2005 season.
In 2006 he scored a victory at 35 Raceway Park, the original home of
600cc upright mini sprint racing. “I’m really excited about our new
car. We are really looking forward to venturing out a little more
this season. In addition to running the 600cc, we are also hoping to
put a 1200cc engine in and run some races with the American Mini
Sprint Association this season." A special thanks goes out to
Tony Rittenhouse of Up Close Advertising for his support of TNR
Motorsports for the upcoming 2007 season.
The
Broughtons are certainly not strangers to victory circle in a mini
sprint. Before turning the wheel over to his son, Tony Broughton was
a multi-time track champion at 35 Raceway Park in the 600cc upright
mini sprints with 69 feature wins and even went on to compete in a
full-size sprint car. After retiring, Broughton became a crew chief
for Jeff Barnhart in a season that included a track championship in a
600cc mini sprint at 35 Raceway Park.
“We’re
really excited everytime a new car leaves our shop. Tony Broughton
has to be one of the best we’ve seen on set-up and Ryan shows a lot of
maturity for a youngster. We’re really anxious to see all of the cars
that have been purchased during our first two years in competition in
2007. We’ve had a lot of interest in the car from across the country
this winter. We think its going to be a great year”, commented Larry
Fasse of FOZ Race Cars. |
